Conversations
The most tragic realization in the past two days has been listening to and reading the defeat. There is no conversation about why, or where will the country go. Pakistan was linked with unfortunate fatalism, it seems, with a future that will only mock itself. Change is needed, yes, but there is no talk of change.
Here are some conversations I've heard coming out friends and friends of friends from Pakistan:
It's the most tragic time during my life in the country....There's nothing much anyone can do right now
The whole country has been shutdown, people rioting, burning,
not sure what's going on
Things are insane...the roads are deserted and shops are all shut.
they were burning cars on the street near her house.
God knows where we'll go from here
Progress, I hear, is necessary, and inevitable. We have to go somewhere.
